Connecting your accounts is optional. If you choose to connect, access is strictly read-only — Plentio can see your transaction data but can never move money or make changes to your accounts. Any credentials needed to maintain that connection are encrypted and stored securely. Prefer not to connect? You can simply upload your statements or transaction history instead, and Plentio works exactly the same way.

Most budgeting apps just show you where your money went, or teach you their budgeting methods. Plentio tells you what to do next — and watches your back on policies, fees, spending habits — adjusting plan as your life changes.
Absolutely. You can manually upload bank statements, policy documents, and contracts. Plentio's AI will analyse them just the same. Connecting accounts simply automates the process and keeps your data up to date in real time.
ChatGPT gives generic advice based on what it's read online. Plentio's AI runs real calculations against your actual data — your income, expenses, policies, interest rates — and knows South African legislation, tax tables, and product rules. It gives specific, personalised guidance, not internet summaries.

Hi, I'm Mark.
I'm a software product builder, and I've spent years developing complex software and systems — but when it came to my personal finances, I outsourced my financial decisions to an adviser.
I had the usual mix of products — a retirement annuity, TFSA, life cover, investments — but I never felt like I had a solid grasp on any of it. I was seemingly "doing the right things," but still had that low-level anxiety that I might be missing something... or everything.
So one day I started digging. I pulled apart every statement, every product brochure, every line of fine print on every policy — trying to figure out what I actually had, what it was costing me, and whether it all made sense.
What started as frustration became a full-blown obsession. I realised there was a huge gap between the tools people had access to — and what they actually needed to feel confident with their money.
Plentio is my attempt to close that gap.
It unpacks the confusing parts of personal finance — explaining things in plain language, exposing what really matters, and giving you clarity without the jargon.
My belief is simple: you shouldn't need a financial degree — or a financial adviser — to understand what's happening with your money.
